316LVM Special Stainless Steel for Surgical Implants ASTM F138 ISO

316LVM(low carbo, vacuum melted), is an electro-slag remelted (ESR)
or vacuum arc remelted (VAR), low carbon, high nickel and
molybdenum version of 316 stainless, which is considered to be a
reasonable choice for surgical implants.
The chemical requirements for surgical implant 316LVM stainless
steel are documented in ASTM F 138 and ISO 5832-1 specifications. A
similar analysis of stainless steel is also available as ASTM A276
commercial quality alloy with different composition limits and
microstructure features when compared to implant quality.
